Steel Cut Oatmeal for the Crock Pot

Steel Cut Oatmeal for the Crock Pot

What makes this one so great is that it can be cooking overnight and hot, ready and waiting for you in the morning. Serves 3 people

  • 1 cup steel cut oats ( Do Not substitute old-fashioned or quick-cooking oats)
  • 4 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2-3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup dried fruit ( you can even add peanut butter)

Serve with:

  • milk, to taste or
  • sugar, to taste or
  • cinnamon, to taste or
  • maple syrup, to taste

  • Add all the ingredients to a 2 quart slow cooker. (you can use a smaller size but I wouldn’t recommend a 6 quart size unless of course your making a whole lot at once)
  • Cover with lid and cook for 6-8 hours on LOW.
