Valentines Wreath from Dollar Store Items.

Aww February….

A month of romance with hearts, candles, and love spread all throughout the house. Well on the door anyway.. lol..

This year I wanted to make a decoration for our door and spend the least amount of money as I possibly could.

So off to the Dollar Tree I went.

I picked up a round Wreath, small bag of Flour, and Salt.

At home I already had nail polish for painting, hot glue, and yarn for the flowers.

Salt Dough

For the hearts I followed instructions to make salt dough and used my heart cookie cutter to cut out the hearts.

Once the hearts are out of the oven and cooled, I used finger nail polish I already had and painted the hearts.  Of course you can use paints but I like how shiny the hearts look using the nail polish.

Once all of these were dry I hot glued the hearts all around the wreath.

In my YouTube video I show how I made the flowers that I have on the wreath.  Click here to watch the video.

Crochet flower:

I used a size E hook and Worsted Weight yarn

Chain 20

sc in 2nd chain from hook.

2 sc in next 2 chains.

2 hdc in nest 2 chains

2 dc in remaining chains

Finish off leaving a long tail for sewing.  Roll into a flower and sew the end.

Crocheted Leaf

Using the same crochet hook, I used a spring time green for the lea

Chain 6

sc in 2nd chain from hook.

hdc in next chain, in next 2 chains dc and in last chain 7 dc.  Now working on the other side of the leaf, dc in next 2 chains, hdc in next chain and in last chain sc.  Slip stitch to the first sc and end leaving a long tail for sewing under the flower.

I hot glued the flowers and hearts to the wreath, added a ribbon for hanging and there we go..
