My favorite part of baking is licking the bowl, beaters, spatula…. But when your recipe calls for eggs you can’t do that… Well good news!! Not only is this recipe easy it also doesn’t use eggs so lick away my friends lick away!!
When I first found this recipe I was excited by how simple it was and how versatile it is as well. You can roll it out and cut out your cookies or make tiny balls roll them in sugar and drop them on your pan. Frost them with Royal Icing or sprinkle more sugar on top.. Which every way you decide to make them, you will enjoy eating them as much as I have enjoyed both making and eating them..
In my YouTube video I added sugared orange zest on top of some cookies before baking and on others I added toasted chopped Hazel nuts.
Ok enough talking.. They are cookies. They are addictive.. Well for me they are I just cant stop baking and eating them. So let’s get going with the ingredients and directions.
I used homemade butter click here to see how I made it.
In a stand mixer mix together the Cream Cheese, Butter, Sugar, and Vanilla.
Mix until nice and smooth….Then slowly add the Flour and Baking soda.. When I say slowly trust me I mean slow down the mixer or you’ll be wearing flour.
At this point decide if you want to cut out cookies or make rolled cookies.
If you want to cut out cookies put the bowl with your cookie dough in the refrigerator for an hour. Heat oven to 350 Fahrenheit. Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness on a lightly floured surface. Cut into your desired shape and place on baking sheets with parchment paper on it, about 3 inches apart. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool on baking sheet for about 2 minutes them move to wire racks to cool completely.
Now if you want rolled balls of cookies you don’t have to refrigerate the dough if you don’t want to.. I used a tsp measuring spoon and rolled the dough into balls, placed them on a baking sheet with parchment paper on it, about an inch or so apart. Just for kicks I used my fork to add a design. As above Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cook on baking sheet for about 2 minutes them move them to wire racks to cool.
When my button cookies were completely cooled I put them in mason jars to give as gifts and of course to keep for myself.
Which ever way you decide to bake your cookies, make sure to lick the beater!!
Easy To Make Sugar Cookies was My Thing 2 Do… Make it Your Thing 2 Do Too..
Leave me a comment on how much you enjoyed licking the bowl.. I mean eating the cookies..
